Overview

This 5-day course enables participants to develop the necessary expertise to support an organization in  improving its business  processes through the DMAIC (Define, Measure, Analyse, Improve and Control) methodology.

 

During this training course, you will also gain a thorough understanding of the best practices of Six Sigma and be able to effectively apply them in an organization to improve its process performance, productivity, and customer satisfaction.

After mastering the  concepts of the Six Sigma methodology, you can sit for the exam and become Certified ISO 13053 Lead Implementer”. By holding a Lead Implementer's Certificate, you will be able to demonstrate that you have the practical knowledge and professional capabilities to improve processes based on ISO 13053.

On completion of this course, delegates will be able to:

  • Acknowledge the correlation between ISO 13053, ISO 9001 and other ISO Management System Standards (MSS) and regulatory frameworks

  • Explain the concepts, approaches, methods and techniques used to improve processes within an organization

  • Support an organization to effectively implement process improvement techniques

  • Integrate DMAIC methodology during the implementation of a Six Sigma project

 

Course Agenda and Content

 

Day 1: Introduction to ISO 13053 and initiation of a Six Sigma project

  • Course objectives and structure

  • Standard and regulatory framework.

  • Quantitative methods in process improvement (QMPI)
  • Initiating Six Sigma implementation
  • Analysing the existing processes.

 

Day 2: Define and measure phases of Six Sigma projects

  • Leadership and approval of the Six Sigma project

  • Six Sigma infrastructure within an organization

  • Training, awareness, and communication plan

  • Six Sigma process mapping and tracking

  • Creation of data collection plan

  • Implementation of data collection plan.

Day 3: Analyse and improve phases of Six Sigma projects

  • Data analysis

  • Process analysis.

  • Root cause analysis (RCA)
  • Six Sigma project root cause prioritization and selection
  • Generating and selecting solutions
  • Piloting and implementation of solutions.

Day 4: Control phase of Six Sigma projects and preparation for an assessment

  • Monitoring, measurement, analysis and evaluation of the improved process

  • Internal audit

  • Management review

  • Treatment of issues and non-conformities

  • Continual improvement 

  • Competence and evaluation of implementers.

Day 5: Certification Exam.

 

Prerequisites

The following are general prerequisites for attending our training courses:

  • Proficiency in the English language

  • Consideration for other course participants

  • Willingness to actively participate during the training sessions, and an open mind to learn new

      ways of working.

 

A fundamental understanding of ISO 13053 and comprehensive knowledge of Six Sigma is required before

attending this course.

 

Training Approach

 

  • This training is based on both theory and best practices used in the Six Sigma methodology

  • Lecture sessions are illustrated with examples based on case studies

  • Practical exercises are based on a case study which includes role playing and discussions.

  • Practice test are similar to the Certification Exam.

 

Certification Examination

 

  • Duration:     90 min.

  • Format:       closed book, 60 multiple-choice questions

  • Pass mark: 70% (42 correct answers)

  • Fundamental principles and concepts of the Six Sigma methodology  based on the ISO 13053 management system standard

  • Six Sigma:

Certification

 

The ISO 13053 Lead Implementer certificate will be issued to delegates passing the exam.
