ISO 18404 Six Sigma & Lean Implementation - Foundation and Lead Implementer

Overview

ISO 18404 as an international standard is the definitive document on Six Sigma and Lean. The purpose of this International Standard and this course is to explain and clarify the required competencies for personnel and organisations wishing to successfully implement Lean & Six Sigma initiatives.

This 3-day training course will clearly explain the competency, performance criteria and expected

evidence for personnel wishing to claim Six Sigma and Lean Green or Black belt capabilities and how

they can go about achieving them.

Learning objectives

By the end of the course delegates should:

  • Be aware of the structure and clauses of ISO 18404

  • Understand the contents of the standard and be able to describe same

  • Be able to interpret, for application purposes, the requirements of the standard regarding competency

      criteria and evidence requirements

  • Be able to prepare the strategy and create the roadmap for obtaining these competencies

  • Be able to coherently answer questions regarding the Standard

  • Have learned and understood the certification criteria for  Six Sigma and Lean Green and Black belt

      Practitioners.

Course Agenda and Content

  • Terms, definitions, and abbreviations within ISO 18404

  • Competency of key personnel in relation to Six Sigma, Lean, and “Lean & Six Sigma”

  • Adequacy of an organisation with regards to its Six Sigma, Lean or “Lean & Six Sigma” approach and

      deployment

  • Resource management

  • Criteria associated with the provision and maintenance of competent key personnel and their organisation

  • Green Belts and Lean practitioners

  • Black Belts and Lean leaders

  • Master Black Belt and Lean expert

Prerequisites

  • Proficiency in the English language, willingness to learn, and open mind to new ways of working.

  • Understanding of the basics of Six Sigma, Lean, and Lean Six Sigma at Yellow belt level (helpful)

  • Any knowledge related to the ISO 13053 standard Parts 1 and 2 (highly desirable).

Training Approach

The course covers both theory and practice:

  • Slide-based training sessions, illustrated with examples

  • Business cases

  • Preparation for the Foundation exam

  • Practice test (mock exam) similar to the certification exam.

Examination

  • Duration       90 min.

  • Format         Closed book

  • Questions    60 multiple-choice questions

  • Pass mark    70% (42 correct answers)

Certification

 

The ISO 18404 Foundation and Lead Implementer certificate will be issued to delegates passing the exam.
