-
Participate, as team members, in LSS BB projects to gain practical experience in the application of LSS tools and techniques before attending the BB course.

At the end of the training, LSS BB candidates should have learned and understood the following:
-
More advanced concepts in Lean, Six Sigma, and the combined Lean Six Sigma methodology
-
How to apply the knowledge and skills in a project environment, that follows the LSS DMAIC project lifecycle
-
More advanced tools and techniques than Green Belts, including SPC ones, and proficiency in use of statistical software packages, such as Minitab and Sigma Excel, for advanced problem-solving and business process improvements

Following the practice of the LSS DMAIC methodology at Black Belt practitioner level for at least a year , BBs can then choose to continue their LSS training, and professional development, by attending the Master Black Belt (BB) training.

Purpose
The Black Belt (BB) training is designed to provide delegates with a deeper and more holistic knowledge and understanding about Lean Thinking/ Lean Manufacturing and Six Sigma DMAIC, with primary focus on preparing them to:
-
Lead teams of LSS YBs and GBs to successfully complete BB projects
-
Manage DMAIC projects to solve sophisticated and complex business problems
-
Train, mentor, and support Green Belts.

Delegates are trained and tested on their understanding and ability to apply the most advanced LSS tools and techniques, including statistical tests, advanced control charts, designed experiments (DOE), etc. in LSS DMAIC projects for complex business problem-solving.
Objectives
To train and develop competent Black Belts, capable of effectively:
-
Managing mission-critical DMAIC projects of high complexity, supported by YBs and GBs.
-
Manage small scale programmes of LSS GB projects
-
Train, coach, mentor and support GBs from a technical perspective to successfully complete their projects.

Who should attend

Benefits for organisations

These include “hard” and “soft” benefits such as:
-
Increase in customer satisfaction and loyalty (Voice of the Customer/ VOC)
-
Repeat customer orders and referrals and reduced customer acquisition and retention costs, thus improving the financial bottom line (Voice of the Business/ VOB)
-
Increase in employee satisfaction (Voice of the Employee/ VOE), resulting in higher productivity and morale, employee loyalty/ retention, and reduced recruitment, and onboarding costs
-
Increase in effective utilisation of resources
-

Lean Six Sigma increases your organization’s profits by streamlining its core, management and supporting processes.
-
This results in value creation and delivery to consumers/ end users in the form of products or services.
-
Products and services are produced faster, and more effectively, are free of defects, and are delivered on time.

Lean Six Sigma increases revenue by enabling your organization to do more with less, i.e.:
-
Producing and delivering higher-quality products or services
-
Meeting or exceeding customer requirements and specifications
-
Using fewer human and other resources and being more environmentally friendly.

Benefits for individuals
Black Belts are considered as expert problem-solvers, and the strategies, tactics, and tools they use can work in different operating environments.
-
This level of LSS certification is mainly for experienced project managers, who are established in the field of LSS, working for an organization who has embraced the above discipline.

Their skill set is highly sought after by many organisations in manufacturing and service industries.

Course syllabus

The LSS BB syllabus has been prepared taking into consideration the following international best practices:
-
International Association for Six Sigma Certification (IASSC) Black Belt body of knowledge (BoK)
-
American Society for Quality (ASQ) Body of knowledge for Black Belts
-
ISO 18404: 2015 standard (Quantitative methods in process improvement - Six Sigma - Competencies for key personnel and their organizations in relation to Six Sigma and Lean implementation).

In-House Training (on-site)

If your organisation considers training a number of people, who are interested in attending the course, sitting the exam and achieving certification to LSS Black Belt level, then we can come to your premises and deliver the training in-house/ on-site.

The benefit of this course delivery option is that training can be contextualised and, if requested, tailored to your organisation’s needs.
-
Contextualisation means increased understanding and application to your specific organisational environment.
-
The job titles in your BAU operations, the role titles in your LSS project environment, your terminology, and case-studies, can and will be integrated in your training materials if so requested. This may result in extra cost.
