Statistical Process Control (SPC)

Overview

This 1-day practical SPC training course will provide delegates with a basic knowledge and understanding of the principles of Statistical Process Control and the methodologies for performing capability studies. The course is highly practical and avoids detailed knowledge or discussion of statistical theory.

Statistical Process Control (SPC) is defined as the use of statistical techniques to control a process or production method. It is a key element of the Lean Six Sigma methodology.

SPC is an optimisation philosophy:

  • Is concerned with continuous process improvement

  • Uses a collection of (statistical) tools and techniques for data and process analysis making inferences about process behaviour.

  • Is a key element of Total Quality Management (TQM) initiatives

  • It seeks to maximise profit by improving product quality, improving productivity, streamlining business processes, and reducing waste and variation.

SPC tools and techniques can help monitor business process behaviour, discover issues in internal systems, and find solutions for production issues.

  Training Course details
  • 1 day (09.00 - 17.00 GMT)
  • Online instructor-led via zoom.us
  • £390 + VAT per delegate
  • Deadline for payment/ registration: 2 calendar days before course start
  • Included: 1 day online instructor-led training, delegate workbook, online exam, and certificate.

Who Should Attend

  • Personnel involved in manufacturing, quality, inspection, design/process engineering.

  • Those required to develop and interpret control charts.

Learning Objectives

By the end of this SPC training course, delegates will be able to:

  • Generate, utilise and interpret a variety of Control Charts, such as X-bar/R, S & attribute.

  • Perform a capability study and determine process capability indices (Cp, Cpk, Pp and Ppk).

  • Interpret the results in the context of the process variation and product acceptance criteria.

Training Approach

The course covers both theory and practice:

  • Slide-based training sessions, supported by examples

  • Preparation for the Foundation exam

  • Practice test (mock exam) simulating the certification exam.

Examination

Upon completion of the training course, you can sit for the exam and become Certified in Statistical Process Control.

Following are the exam details:

  • Duration             45 min.

  • Format               Closed book

  • Questions           30 multiple choice

  • Pass mark          70% (21 correct answers).

Certification

The Statistical Process Control certificate will be issued to delegates passing the exam.
